First Major of the year nearly upon us
The Scrutton Cup is only a week away and coupled with the chance to qualify for a place at Gleneagles in September adds an extra edge to the event. With a full field already entered it seems that Orsett members are ready to compete. So keep these two dates clear in your diary entrants;
Tuesday 24th June is our Regional qualifier being held 'at home' on our own course, so no pressure their then!
The final at Gleneagles is September 2nd and 3rd just days before the Ryder Cup. So remember to sign up for this, it’s a chance in a lifetime, who wouldn`t want to miss it?
Oh the other Major event happening across the pond in Georgia the same weekend could be easier to win. A smaller field 93, (Scrutton Cup - 124) which is invitational and around one third have little chance of winning due to the criteria on selection policy for the event.
The Masters seems to ignite everyone back to the golf course and the surge to play again increases countrywide. Having been and witnessed the splendour that is Augusta I know why, it truly is a magical place. I recently joined a conversation in the spike bar and those present were talking about bucket lists and attending Augusta was on nearly everyones. No matter what it costs if you get the chance to go, TAKE IT. It is like no other event. The fact that golfers all know the course so well having seen the event every year on the same course and the attention to detail the staff make there. The quirkiness of the patrons who can park a seat, leave and return to find it waiting for them at any time of the day. The serene calmness broken by the echoing cheers when a player hits a fabulous shot. Yet The Augusta National course is the true star of the week. With its super quick tournament speed greens, white bunker sand, Azalea bushes and opportunities to go low or high on any hole makes it what it is. People will pay a fortune for a ticket and I now know why. Get it off the bucket list and go.
The Masters Sweepstake draw will take place next week once the whole field has been finalised. We will be posting your players before the first round on Thursday. Many thanks to those who are in the draw.
For the first time ever we are offering Oakley clothing. Well known for its premier eyewear that will also soon be available, they dabbed their toes in the golfing water first with Rory and now Bubba, Zach and a host of other top players. Take a look next time and be pleasantly surprised with what you find. It is of the usual Oakley standard and too good to ignore. To see their full clothing range click here
When was the last time you had your wedges checked?
Do you play with the correct wedge lofts in your bag? Do they contain the sort of bounce that hinders rather than helps? Could they be stopping you from improving your short game skills?
If the answer is maybe to any of these questions it is time to get your wedges assessed by us. Just bring them into the shop and let us explain what could be holding you back.
Try our demo Vokey wedges and see for yourself how bounce and certain grinds could turn you from Stavros into Seve around the greens! Your wedges are essential to good scoring, can you afford to not get them checked?
